Andrés Miguel Cervantes EPK
Andrés Miguel Cervantes is a Mexican- American singer songwriter born and raised in San Diego, California, currently living in the Bay Area. Influenced by songwriters Leonard Cohen, Townes Van Zandt, Fred Neil, and Guy Clark, Andrés' lyrics are distinctly his own, with beautiful, haunting images of landscapes both internal and external; stories of traveling, searching, rambling, and experiencing the impermanence of life and love. Suffused with a dreamlike, mysterious atmosphere, his complex songs are grounded in an honesty and simplicity that make them timeless and deeply relevant. Songs inspired by memories of long drives with his father through Sonora Mexico, along dusty dirt roads, and through the open planes of the Mexican Countryside.
"The Crossing" is Andrés Miguel Cervantes' debut album, produced and recorded by Alicia Vanden Heuvel (of the Aislers Set, Poundsign, Magic Trick), recorded on Otari 8 track at Speakeasy Studios SF. The album, the first release on Alicia's Speakeasy Studios SF record label, is characterized by both a 60’s classic country/ folk sound and the dramatic western noir sound remniscent of Townes Van Zandt & Ennio Morricone . You can feel the melancholy western sound of lonesome, psychadelic pedal steel, galloping percussion, tack piano, trumpet, and vocal duets that break your heart. Andrés songs transport the listener into the heartworn landscapes of the west, leading one on a journey accompanied by a heartbreaking western noir soundtrack.
